Charles Oriez succumbed to cancer on September 7, 2005. An ACM member since 1997, he was also founding chair of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) Legislative Committee. He earned his MS-CIS from Denver University and a BA in Political Science from SUNY-Regents. He also served as an adjunct professor at Devry University.

Oriez wrote and spoke on technology issues in Denver, Colorado. He served on the Sierra Club's national Information Technology advisory committee and was recently involved in a project to place computers in Denver area school systems.
